Forest Church is about exploring our connection with the natural world, with each other and with something bigger than ourselves. It’s about finding space to pause, to notice, to wonder and to reflect. It’s about discovering the extraordinary in the ordinary: the tiny patterns and colours of a fallen leaf, the unique green of a tiny seedling pushing through the soil, the ever changing seasons and the rhythms of the natural world.

 

We chose Forest Church because we love the outdoors. In fact, our whole team feels more comfortable outside. There’s something about being in the natural world that gives us space to breathe, space to be ourselves and freedom to think without the confinement of four walls.

 

Outside, things feel different. There are fewer boundaries, fewer distractions and perhaps fewer expectations. We can slow down, explore, follow our curiosity and allow our thoughts to wander. We don’t have to fit into a particular space or way of doing things.

Nature has a voice of its own. Sometimes it’s loud and impossible to ignore; at other times it’s quiet, subtle and easy to miss. It speaks through the changing seasons, the movement of the wind, birdsong, new growth, decay and renewal. It offers us things to discover, questions to ask and lessons to reflect on. Sometimes we just need to stop talking long enough to hear it.

 

Forest Church is about making space for that listening. It’s about exploring our connection with the natural world, with each other and with something bigger than ourselves. It’s about finding wonder in the everyday, noticing the things we might otherwise walk past and being open to what nature might have to teach us.

 

There is a spiritual dimension to what we do. Being outdoors can create opportunities for reflection, for asking questions and for exploring faith in a different way. We might share stories, explore a theme, create something, or simply take a moment to appreciate the world around us. We don’t need to have all the answers.

 

And although nature is at the heart of Forest Church, so are people. It’s about coming together, sharing experiences, making connections and creating a space where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves.
